Canine skin conditions can come from a number of causes. Some may be minor and some may be serious. Often canine skin conditions begin as something minor that can be treated easily, but it's ignored until it becomes a major problem for the dog and owner. Although most canine skin conditions are not serious or life threatening, they can become quite a problem if left untreated. Many canine skin conditions are the result of allergies. While humans will usually have skin problems as well as respiratory problems with allergies, dogs tend to have their allergies show up as skin conditions. Allergies in dogs can come from coming in contact with something or from inhaling it. Some of the possible culprits are flea saliva, cleaning agents, dairy products, food, house dust mites, lawn chemicals and pollens. Acne Skin Conditions

Anyone that owns a cat or has owned one knows that they require more care than one would think. Often people because they are smaller than dogs that they require a lot less care and work, which is not usually the case. They may be small, but they still require food, regular checkups, regular grooming and care when they become sick or develop cat skin conditions. If you are the owner of a cat, skin conditions may be something that you've already had to deal with. If you are a new owner of a cat, skin conditions are something you will probably have to deal with at some point.

Whether you own a small or large cat, skin conditions can still affect them and their health. There are different types of skin conditions that may affect your cat. Cheyletiella dermatitis is a skin condition caused by mites, or rather one small mite that lives in outer skin of cats. Symptoms of cheyletiella dermatitis are scratching, excessive shedding and a large amount of dandruff on the backs, neck and head. The unfortunate thing about this type of dermatitis is that it can spread to other animals as well as humans that come in contact with the cat. Acid Skin Conditions

Dogs have been around about as long as man has, but their popularity as a family pet an indoor dog has increased drastically in recent years. With dog being kept indoors, more attention is paid to their skin and coat. Therefore, owners are quick to notice when their dog develops dog skin conditions. Although many dog owners aren't aware of the many dog skin conditions that exist, there are many. If you are an owner of a dog, skin conditions are something you should be aware of so you can help your dog if it is needed.

Dog skin conditions may be something as minor as matted and snarled hair or it can be a more serious skin problem such as worms or other parasites. Dogs should be given preventative worm medications especially if they live in conditions where they are more susceptible such as kennels or around other dogs. If a dog becomes infected with worms or other parasites, they will develop poor coat conditions, itchy and often irritated skin. Abnormal Skin Conditions

Dry skin occurs to all of us at some time, depending on where we're at and what we're doing. Dry skin is also known as xerosis. Some of us get dry skin after being outdoors too long, being around harsh chemicals or being in water and some have dry skin all the time. Some of the people may have been born with dry skin and others may have developed it from their hands coming in contact with conditions and situations that bring on dry skin and dry skin conditions. As the skin dries out, our cells contract and shrivel, causing us to develop wrinkles and fine lines. Sometimes by time we are aware of these fine lines and wrinkles, it's too late to do anything about them.

Dry skin conditions occur when our skin does not have the normal amount of moisture and natural oils it needs to stay soft, moist and healthy. Certain conditions such as overexposure to the sun, cold winter months or harsh chemicals tend to take out the moisture and oils and leave us with dry skin, which lead to dry skin conditions. Everyone knows that the hot summer months can be very hard on our skin. What many don't know is that the winter months can be even harder on our skin. Because there is not as much humidity in the winter, we lose a lot of moisture and oils in our skin, making them very dry and very susceptible to dry skin conditions. Other conditions that can lead us to getting dry skin are under-hydration, air conditioning and excess bathing. All of these things remove the natural oils that are important to our skin.
